- In-transit encryption or TLS secures a "pipe", everything in it is protected. Before and after the pipe, it is not.

- Encryption at rest or database encryption secures the data when it is not in use. If someone breaks into the building that contains the DB server and steals it, they can't do anything with it. But if someone gets into your backend, via an application flaw for example, they will have access to everything.

- End-to-end encryption ensures that no third party can access the data. No third party includes the data host, the application developer, any administrator, or a government and by extension any malicious person attacking one or more of these third parties.

The free offering is a sandbox that is on a different environment than the paid offerings, it does not have data replication or high availability. The data in this environment may be unavailable or lost. So it is not suitable for a production environment.
